Introduction:
There are two type of SOLAS immersion suit, one is for domestic voyage vessels and another is for international voyage vessels. The second one is made of foam rubber, serves to prevent the loss of body heat when submerged in cold water. Shall be provided for every person assigned to the crew of the rescue boat and at east three immersion suits shall be provided for each open type lifeboat on the ship.
Approval Standard:
1. Regulation 4, 7, 22, 32 & 34, Chapter III of SOLAS 1974, as Amended.
2. Chapter I and II of MSC.48(66) International Life-saving Appliance Code(LSA Code) and MSC.207(81), MSC.218(82).
3. Sections III of Part 1; Sections II of Parts 2 of MSC. 81(70) Revised Recommendation on Testing of Life-saving Appliance and MSC.226(82), MSC.323(89).
